The Jefferson County Bicycle Club is a non-profit organization that plays a major role in initiating and implementing bicycle advocacy projects throughout Jefferson County Wisconsin, coordinates weekly bicycle rides and weekend “get away rides” for all abilities and organizes the annual Tour de Fort bicycle rally.

Come join us on Sunday, August 16, 2009 to ride in the longest running bicycle tour in Jefferson County. The annual Tour de Fort Bicycle tour, sponsored by the Jefferson County Bicycle Club, offers multiple ride distances, a free chicken dinner after the event, well marked routes on low traveled roads, fantastic rest-stops and SAG support.

Lake Mills Glacial Drumlin Trail parking lot (SH89)
Start Time:
6:30 p.m.
Ride Summary:
This ride will start in Lake Mills and provide three ride distances and paces. Rides will be available for all ages and abilities.

Routes, distances and pace will vary for the three rides, but typically the most advanced ride is 24-32 miles with a 17-19 mph average. The intermediate ride is around 16 miles and has a pace of 13-16 mph. The beginner ride is approximately 11 miles with a pace of 9-13 mph.

President's Message

2008 has been a great year for the Jefferson County Bicycle Club. We made
great progress in the areas of advocacy, membership, club financials and
rides / special events. With that said, there is much more work to be
done. One of our biggest challenges is to continue to promote and fund
raise for improved bicycling infrastructure in order to create a safe
environment for those electing to utilize the bicycle for recreation, going
to work, going to school or running errands. Additionally, educating
children and adults on bicycle safety and awareness is critical. Too many

1. Advocacy

Some of our great work in the area of advocacy this year included:

* Monetary contribution ($2,000) for the Jefferson County Bike Plan
re-write and participation in County Park's meetings to promote the
county contribution to this plan. A consultant will be hired by end of
year and work on the plan will start Q1 2009.
* Instrumental in obtaining sponsorship for the County Bike Plan re-write
